During the review, I noticed that I didn’t have a concept with my work, I had experimentation but no concept. From my discussion with Maxine and the rest of the group I had gotten some feedback which is that I need to know which direction that I want to go in and which piece/s of work will help me. By looking at my work, it came to my attention that the group and Maxine thought my expanding foam and clay sculptures look like a loaf of bread and a buffet. This point of reference relates to the real world. The use of the expanding foam in a cardboard box has a nice surface which I have pierced with a piece of wire and you can almost hear it when its pierced. By experimenting with expanding foam, I have looked at containment and overflowing (loaf of bread is rising). I need to reflect on all the pieces that I have created and know which one works and why.

The images above show examples of the clay and play dough sculptures that I have created and that they have been arranged on a circular table which has a buffet reference. I could create the strangest buffet with multiple clay, play dough and expanding foam sculptures and arrange them like this. I could have levels on a table to add dimension plus more sculptures. I could also reference to profiteroles and sushi.

The things I need to do to carry on developing this project is to finalise a concept that reflects and show what the piece is going to be. Also, I am going to experiment with the expanding foam in different consistencies to see what effect it may have, also in different sizes and shapes. I am going to put different materials in the expanding foam to see the effect the expanding foam may have on the materials and vice versa. Also, I am going to create more sculptures out of clay to see what will happen when I arrange them in various ways and I am going to experiment in different sizes since I have been only working in small sizes.
