ABOUT ME

I’m Alannah May Brown - an artist, graphic designer and photographer from the UK. I am a graduate with a BA (hons) degree in Fine Art and Graphic Design from the University of Chester, and i am always building a portfolio of my work.

Throughout my website you’ll find examples of the kind of art I produce. From decoupage to watercolours, graphic logos to still photography, I work across a range of forms and techniques. I’ve experimented with sculpture. I have experience in video editing too and VLOGGING - you can find examples on my

Over the three years of my degree, I’ve been broadening my scope of artistic techniques and gained a lot of experience with new forms of art and design. I’m familiar with monoprint, screen-printing, blind drawing, laser cutting, textiles, and drawing with a range of tools such as charcoal, graphite and chalk. I’ve also become familiar with new design softwares which I’m aiming to incorporate into my latest pieces - Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator are just three examples. I’ve taken theoretical art modules and practical workshops to improve the variety of my knowledge - my Graphics modules have included assignments like package branding and creating film posters, so I have experience with working to a set criteria. I love to work on mixed media art which is why a combined degree was perfect for me - I get to experience a lot of different techniques and effects.

During my degree I’ve also completed three work placements which involved getting up-close and personal with galleries and artists. The first of these took place at Beautiful Things by Amanda in St. Helens - I shadowed her decoupage and craft classes, learned decoupage, and set up a stall of my own where my work is available for purchase. My placement in Llandudno at Mostyn Gallery and the Alison Bradley Gallery in Chester not only allowed me to experience the difference between a public and private art gallery, but let me travel for work and get to know more of the surrounding areas and the art history that comes with it.

The North-West is where I grew up and where a lot of my heritage resides. My home county is important to me, so I try to interpret it as much as possible in my artwork. I’ve produced pieces which hopefully capture the intrinsic nature of the North-West region - its industrial roots, the effects of gentrification, and its connections to the wider United Kingdom. For examples of these pieces, check out my full portfolio, where you can find photography collections from Liverpool and Chester.

A lot of my work is available for purchase. Every item is completely unique - I offer bespoke pieces at great prices, and am currently accepting commissions. Check out the shop section of my site to find the pieces available to buy, or visit my Etsy Page.
